Island of the Gods

Known as the Island of the Gods, Bali evokes thoughts of paradise. But it's more than a place; it's a mood, an aspiration, a state of mind. This Start the Car Productions teaser trailer offers a glimpse into the beauty of the island, its land, its spirituality, but most importantly its people.

Inspired by their altruistic idea, we followed a trio of Australian filmmakers to the oldest village of Indonesia's Bali, aka the 'Island of the Gods'. There we met a young Balinese visionary Satria Black who welcomed us all into his home atop the volcanic mountains in the spiritual heart of this island paradise. Experiencing the traditional ways of the ancient world, our unlikely collective worked to manifest Satria's life-long dream of enriching the lives of the people of his village by building a new school.

It was a long and gruelling 2 week shot, but we loved having the opportunity to observe and sometimes partake in the Balinese community and culture. Learning about Satria's vision, and being able to share that with others was an amazing gift.
